As this year comes to a close, the team at Rooted has been reflecting on all that we have to be thankful for—while also recognizing the challenges that many in our community continue to face and how we can show up to help. When we look back over the past year, one thing stands out above all else: time and time again, our community showed up for us—and in turn, we showed up for you. Together, we grew and shared locally grown produce, created spaces for connection, and offered programs that were free or low-cost and accessible to all. That’s the beauty of coming together.
We are deeply grateful for the many people who shared their time, talents, and energy with us—whether in person, out in the gardens, or through our virtual workshops. We’re thankful for the partners who worked alongside us in classrooms and on the land, helping us cultivate not only healthy food but also deep relationships and shared learning. We’re indebted to the sponsors and donors whose generosity made it possible for us to meet the needs of our programs and the people we serve. And we’re proud of our dedicated staff, who have done so much with the precious financial and environmental resources we steward.
Looking ahead, we know that the coming year will bring its own set of opportunities and challenges. We’re ready to meet them with the same spirit of collaboration and care that defines our community. Together, we can continue building a food system that nourishes everyone who calls Madison and Dane County home.
At Rooted, being rooted is more than our name—it’s our mission. It’s a reminder that we thrive when we grow together: when youth learn from elders, when families gather around shared tables, and when neighbors contribute in countless ways to the well-being of all.
Thank you for being part of this ecosystem—your presence, support, and participation make everything we do possible. Here’s to a new year of growth, connection, and community.
